Bellevue Howitzer

The US Army has loaned Bellevue Borough a 105 mm Howitzer to display in Bayne Park. The park is a memorial park, set up after WWI to honor the veterans who served and died for our country. The howitzer is of 1962 vintage and was used during the Vietnam War. In 2011, Councilman Jim Scisiani started the process of aquiring the weapon for display. In the beginning of 2021, Bellevue received a inquiry from the Army asking if the borough was still interested. Bellevue Council approved the transfer. After all of the paper work was completed, Mike Joyce Towing volunteered its services and traveled to Ft. Indian Town Gap (near Harrisburg) to bring the big gun back on a flatbed. The weapon, in need of a paint job, will be on display as long as Bellevue Borough agrees to keep and maintain it.
many thanks to Jim Scisiani, Mike Joyce Towing, Borough Manager Cindy Bahn, Mayor Emily Marburger, Bellevue Council and all who had a part in adding the howitzer to the park.
